Goldsmiths Students' Union has asked to run events to 4am. Plus a 2am New Cross pub and a 6am-2am Bellingham off-licence: every live application and its deadline.
Goldsmiths Students’ Union in New Cross has applied to change its licence so it can hold events until 4am. The application is on Lewisham Council’s register of current licensing applications. Anyone who wants to comment has until 18 November 2026.
It is one of eight live applications on the register that we have not reported before. Two others ask for trading until 2am: a corner pub on New Cross Road and an off-licence in Bellingham.
What Goldsmiths Students’ Union has asked for
The union is on Dixon Road, next to the main entrance of the Richard Hoggart Building. It has applied for a full variation of its premises licence. The register lists these hours for the variation:
| Activity | Hours listed |
|---|---|
| Plays and films | 2am to 4am Monday to Saturday; 12.30am to 4am Sunday |
| Live music | 2am to 4am Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 3am to 4am Wednesday; midnight to 4am Sunday |
| Dance and recorded music | 2am to 4am Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 3am to 4am Wednesday; 12.30am to 4am Sunday |
| Alcohol on the premises | 1.30am to 3.30am Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 2.30am to 3.30am Wednesday; midnight to 3.30am Sunday |
The register sets out only the hours applied for. It does not say what the union’s current licence allows, or why it wants the change. The full application can be seen by appointment or requested by email, as set out below.

Three other applications on the same register have their own stories:
- Millwall’s request to raise The Den’s capacity to 19,999, comments by 9 November
- the Millwall Café on Bolina Road, heard by councillors on 27 October
- the Winter Gardens at Beckenham Place Park, comments by 12 November
What it means for you
Anyone can comment on a licence application, whether they support it or object. The council says a representation must:
- be made in writing, by post or by email to licensing@lewisham.gov.uk
- include your full name and full postal address, or it will be treated as invalid
- arrive by the last date shown on the register
Comments have to relate to the four licensing objectives: preventing crime and disorder, public safety, preventing public nuisance and protecting children from harm. If valid objections are not resolved, councillors decide the application at a licensing sub-committee hearing.
You can see the full details of any application by appointment at Laurence House in Catford, or by emailing the licensing team. Our planning applications page explains how to follow building work near you, which is a separate process.
